Ignatius Hidalgo

Ignatius “Mickey” Hidalgo entered peacefully into rest at his home in San Lorenzo on May 11, 2017. He was 94 years old.

Born in Watsonville on February 9, 1923 to Chris and Felicitas Hidalgo, Mickey was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Mickey attended Watsonville Union High School. He took great pride in his career as a carpenter for 70 years, building his own duplex in San Leandro in which he owned and his cabin in South Lake Tahoe where he loved to fish and visit often. His dedication to his career earned him a 70 Year Pin from the Carpenter’s Union of which he was so proud of. He served his country while in the ARMY, stationed in France from 1943-1946 and fought in WWII.

Jose Samonte “Pe Ping” Ocampo entered peacefully into rest at his San Lorenzo home on May 9, 2017. He was 79 years old.

Born in the Philippines on August 14, 1937 to Sotero L. and Albina S. Ocampo, Jose was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He attended Sierra MADRE Institute, Guzman Institute of Technology, National Radio School and the Institute of Technology. Jose worked for 40 years as an Auto Mechanic. He enjoyed Motorcycling, Hum Radio, Singing and listening.

Mom (also known as Lola or Manang Lil) of Boac, Marinduque, was married to Isidor Jacinto (deceased 1972) and had four children: Cecilia (Jim Sylves), Robert (Laura), Diana (Abe Millado) and Richard (Rhonda Jones); five grandchildren – Lora (Dale), Erin (Jay), Jamie (Jason), Grace and Matthew and one great grandchild - Carson.

Rudolph Mello

Rudolph “Rudy” Mello, 93, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2017. The 11th child of Portuguese immigrants, Manuel and Virginia Mello, Rudy was born on January 14, 1924. Growing up in Oakland, Rudy was active in sports as one of CYO and McClymond High School’s star baseball players. Soon after, drafted during WWII, Rudy served in the European Theatre including but not limited to the Battle of the Bulge.

A devout Catholic, she took great pride in her family and always made sure each were taken care of. Mary was a great cook, loved watching her grandkids, travel, family events and walking. A perfect homemaker to her family, giving of her heart and soul to ensure all were welcome into her home.

She received her education from Clausen, Sacred Heart and Saint Elizabeth High. Isabel loved art, photography, singing and her pets. She was a member of YLI, Secular Franciscans and Church Choir. She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Born to Harry and Catherine Ogburn in Oakland, he passed peacefully with his family by his side from heart failure. He went to St. Felicitas School and St. Joseph High, Alameda, graduating in 1969. He was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Katie and brother Tom. He is survived by sisters Therese Lancaster (Bud), Trudie Burnside (John), Mary Ogburn, brother Chris Ogburn (Bernie) and many nieces and nephews.
