Vito A. Proscia

Life Legacy

Vito Anthony Proscia, lovingly known by many as Pop Pop, entered peacefully into rest in Danville, California on October 20, 2019. He was 92 years old.

Born February 6, 1927 in New York to parents Joseph and Constance Proscia, Vito received a Bachelor’s degree from New York City College and a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University. Following his education, he worked as an executive sales manager at IRTI for over 40 years, served as the Director of the Sensory Aids Foundation, founded the Opticon Fund, and was a Trustee of National Braille Press. Vito loved woodworking, riding on tandem bicycles, dogs, and going to Half Moon Bay in his motorhome. He even once made a special appearance on the Michael Douglas Show!

Vito is survived by his children Peter (Phyllis), David (Sharyl), Cathy (Bill), Laurie, and Jane (Brooks); grandchildren Jake, Andrew, Nick, Trinity, Shannon, Billy, Shelby, Ashlyn and Shea; and one of his six siblings. He was preceded in death by his wife Marian Carolyn and grandson Cooper.

Memorial Donations may be made to California School for the Blind, 500 Walnut Avenue, Fremont, California 94536, or Super Cooper’s Alex’s Lemonade Stand, to join in the fight against childhood cancer.

Visitation for Vito will be held from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM on Monday, October 28, 2019 at St. Joan of Arc Parish, 2601 San Ramon Valley Blvd, San Ramon, CA 94583, with Mass to begin at 11:00 AM. Vito will be laid to rest at 2:00 PM on Monday, October 28, 2019 at Skylawn Memorial Park, Hwy. 92 at, Skyline Blvd, San Mateo, CA 94402.
