Vera Margaret Hrdina entered peacefully into rest at her home on Easter Sunday at 6am in Castro Valley on April 21, 2019. She was 82 years old.

Vera was born March 24, 1937 in Fresno, CA. to parents Ellen Davis and Thomas Dick.  Vera attended Bacone College, Northeastern State University and  Cal State Hayward, where she earned her Master’s in Education.  She began her career as an Elementary Teacher for multiple Unified School Districts for over 40 years.

Vera loved traveling and music.  She enjoyed hosting and teaching home bible studies.  She participated in multiple community outreach programs, such as feeding and ministering to the local homeless population.  She also loved flowers and horseback riding.  She was very proud of her achievement as a Bible College Graduate.  She was also a Master Teacher at Highland for St. Mary’s College, and a Chairman for the Highland Social Club, a Chairman for Language Arts, and a Chairman on the Faculty Advisory Council.

Vera is survived by her children Beverly McGinley, Perry and Gary Neddeau, and Kimberly McGuire; grandchildren Tracey, William and Mason McDonough, Ryan and Sayoko Neddeau, Riley, Trevor and Colin McGuire great-grandchild Dominic Caseres and brother Conrad Davis.

Vera was preceded in death by her parents Ellen Davis and Thomas Dick and her siblings Rachel Chenot and Raymond Dick.

Visitation will be on Thursday, May 2, 2019 from 1:00 P.M. – 3:00 P.M. at Grissom’s Chapel and Mortuary 267 E. Lewelling Blvd. San Lorenzo. The funeral and burial service will be on Friday, May 3, 2019 beginning at 10:00 A.M.  The address for the Santa Rosa Rancheria Tachi-Yokut Cemetery is 19th Ave, Lemoore, CA 93245.   A reception will be following the service at Santa Rosa Rancheria Elders Center at 16445 17th Ave. Lemoore, CA 93245.
