Stuart Edward Allaway, (STU) was born November 25, 1964 to the late Norman and Edna Allaway and grew up in Delmar, NY. After matriculating through Bethlehem Central schools, Stu attended Rutgers University where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing and became a lifelong Scarlet Knights sports fan. Not long after, he began a successful career in insurance, working for Allstate Insurance as an Underwriter and as an Agency Manager, He continued his career with The Hartford as Sales practices manager, Personal Lines Sales manager, Regional VP for both the Eastern and Western regions. Awards he received include: Personal Lines Stag Award, The Hartford Winners’ Circle, Allstate Key Manager, Market Business Consultant of the Year and Agency Manager of the Year.
Stu had a vision for his future and was not afraid to work hard to make it happen. After meeting Teretha Washington through mutual friends on a blind date that only the friends knew about, he told friends that he was going to marry her but that she just didn’t know it yet. They became friends and he would often say that she stalked him because she asked him out to lunch. From that first lunch the pair was inseparable Stuart and Teretha were married November 9, 1996 and out of this union were born two beautiful children, Sydney and Trevor.
Stu was a dedicated father and husband. Keeping his children active was important to him. His love of sports was passed to his children and he could often be found on the sidelines of little league fields of Dublin Little League Baseball (DLL) where he was a Coach, on the sidelines of the football field for the Pleasanton Junior Football League (PJFL) where he was an assistant coach for many years or in the stands cheering for Sydney’s volleyball, soccer or lacrosse teams. He enjoyed sharing valuable teaching moments and extending himself for the greater purposes of ensuring every young person he encountered was tooled with life lessons demonstrated through teamwork, perseverance, and winning even when the score was not in their favor.
Along with his wife Teretha, Stu worked tirelessly in supporting her efforts to ensure a better tomorrow in educating children through volunteering. He spent countless hours supporting the Music and Athletic Boosters, PFC’s, PFSO and numerous other faculty and parent initiatives geared towards keeping the integrity of the educational experience in tact for generations to come.
Stu was able to maintain lasting relationships with friends from elementary school through his college years, as well as countless men and woman he met along his life’s journey. He was known to be a great friend and mentor who knew how to have a great time. He was also fun, caring, loving, and passionate especially with those closest to him. He loved his family and enjoyed making the many memories that will live on forever.
On September 20, 2018 Stu passed from this side of life to a new home. We lost a tremendous treasure but our consolation is in whose arms he now rests - our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Stuart is survived by his loving wife Teretha; daughter Sydney; son Trevor; Brother Philip; Sister Linda (Vern) Wilson; as well as a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
