On Sunday, October, 23, 2016, Ronald Bennett Keeney entered into rest at his home in San Leandro. He was 79 years old.
Born in Modesto, California on July 4, 1937 to Wayne and Lucille Keeney, Ron was an only child who found happiness in several hobbies. Growing up in Modesto he attended Rose Ave School, Thomas Downey High and Modesto Junior College before graduating from UC Berkeley with his Bachelor’s degree. Post-graduation he would start a 50+ year career as an Electrical Engineer. A profession he was proud to be a part of.
Ron was a kind and faithful man who would volunteer his free time doing charity work and helping others. He was the Co-Founder of the April Showers Homeless Project aka The Interfaith Homeless Network. Ron was very active in the San Leandro First United Methodist Church. He loved antique radio, hymnal collecting and listening to beautiful pipe organ music. His love for music and antiques would live with him most of his life. He enjoyed visiting the Bay Area Radio Museum.
He was a proud father to David W. Keeney and Karen Grace Keeney (deceased). Also a grandfather to Rick Chaves. He once helped develop a Ventricular Device System which was just another proud achievement and another clear indication of his giving character Ron had style, loved God, music, his family, helping others and enjoying life. He will be missed.
