Roger Soward

July 13, 1939 - March 16, 2020

Life Legacy

Roger Soward, age 80, born July 13, 1939, passed away March 16, 2020 in Alameda, California, after a long battle with several illnesses. Born in San Francisco, CA, he lived in Germany, Alaska, Florida, Oregon, and Texas, before spending many of his later years in Sacramento, CA.

Roger was a veteran of the US Air Force, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was an adventurer at heart, hiking canyonlands and deserts, climbing mountains around the world, and had a love of flying just like his older brother, becoming a pilot after he left the service. Roger was an avid photographer, accomplished musician, author of several books, and electronic wizard. He was preceded in death by his parents, Uel and Jewel (Webber) Soward and his older brother, John Richard Soward. He is survived by his two daughters, Jackie Gautreau (David) and Nathalie Owens, granddaughter Rachel and grandson Christopher, many nephews and nieces, and countless friends. “Rog” was a friend to everyone; we were all lucky to have had him in our lives.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Grissom's Chapel & Mortuary.
