Robert Slate entered peacefully into rest at Eden Hospital in Castro Valley on November 9, 2016 surrounded by His loving family. He was 86 years old.
Born in Cape Vincent, New York on May 30, 1930 to Madeline & Charles Slate. Robert served His country enlisting in the Navy for 6 years and fought in the Korean War. He worked as a truck driver for 40 years, and the Raiders for over 10+ years. He loved playing football, Lotto, golf, and going to Reno.
Robert is survived by his long time companion; Bernice Schroeder, children; Tracie Botelho and Dennis Slate, Grandchildren; Jamie Botelho, Jennifer Gunnels (Rich), and Laney and Rick Joaquin, Great Grandchildren; Chloe, Skyler and Hunter Gunnels, Siblings; Richard Slate, Barbara Schneider, Donald Slate and Mary Lowe, many many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Madeline & Charles Slate and brother, Francis Slate.
A Celebration of His Life will begin at 1:00pm on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at Grissom’s Chapel & Mortuary 267 E. Lewelling Blvd. San Lorenzo, CA 94580. Family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association PO Box 742030 Los Angeles, CA 90074-2030.
