Robert E. Dell was born on June 18, 1925 IN Connellsville, PA to the late John E. & Mary Dell. He was one of three boys born to these proud parents. 

Bob, as he was known to family and friends alike, graduated from Oakland High School in 1943.

After graduating from high school, he joined the Marines in 1944, becoming a Corporal, before being honorably discharged on May 1, 1946. Let it be noted that Bob fought in WWII during this time.

Bob met, and eventually married, a beautiful young lady by name of Katherine. To this union, he and Mrs. Dell had five children: Robert J., Thomas M., Mary K., John E., and Nancy E.

Mr. Dell worked at the Naval Supply Center where he was an Electronics Supervisor for 36 years.

He also served as a Civilian Advisor in Vietnam (U.S. Navy) and he sponsered a Vietnamese family during wartime.

Among his hobbies were gardening, short wave radio and music.

The love of his life, Katherine, preceded him in death in 2012 after 66 years of marriage; as did his daughter, Nancy and his brother William F. Dell.

Bob was called from the battlefield to serve in the Eternal Army on October 20, 2017 in Castro Valley, CA.

He leaves to mourn his passing his children, Robert J. (Mary), Thomas M. (Debbie), Mary K., and John E. (Antonia), as well as his grandchildren, James E., Andrew J., Jeremy D., Kelly E., and Marina K. He also leaves behind eight great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.

There will be a visitation for Bob on Monday, October 30, 2017 from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at Grissom's Chapel & Mortuary, with a vigil beginning at 7:00 P.M.

Grissom's is located at 267 E. Lewelling Blvd., San Lorenzo, CA 94580.

A Mass will be held on Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. at St. John's Catholic Church.

This soldier will be rewarded for his service to our country with military honors during his interment (following the Mass). This will take place at Holy Sepluchre Cemetery at 11:30 A.M.
