Robert “Bob” Alden Brooks entered peacefully into rest in Pleasanton, California on February 16, 2020. He was 89 years old.
Born March 23, 1930 in Modesto, California, the youngest of three children to parents Frances and Ivan Brooks, Robert graduated from Fremont High School with the class of 1948. He worked as a glasier for 65 years, and for 50 of those years, ran Allied Glass Company in Castro Valley with his son Ron. He took great joy in serving his customers and the community he loved.
Robert was an amazing family man. He loved spending time with his boys and their families. He was the go-to guy for any family construction projects and had the skills and knowledge to see it through. He built two cabins and his own home, and also enjoyed gardening. He maintained friendships since high school and will be missed by many.
Robert is survived by his children Ronald (Jeni), Mark (Bev) and Robert (Jan); grandchildren Brian, Katie, Jane, Jack, Caeli, and Julie (John); great grandchildren Aidan, Kai, Ryder, Jenna and Miles; sister Audra; and many loving extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his high school sweetheart Norma, to whom he was married 55 years; and sister Yvonne.
Visitation for Robert will take place from 9:00 - 10:00 AM on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at Grissom's Chapel & Mortuary, 267 E. Lewelling Blvd., San Lorenzo, CA, with services to begin at 10:00 AM. He will be laid to rest at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Hayward, CA.
In lieu of flowers, Robert’s family requests memorial donations be made in his name to the Make a Wish Foundation or Tony La Russa’s Animal Rescue Foundation.
