Richard E. Allen Sr. of Union City was born in Chattanooga on August 8, 1930 to John W. Allen and Amye Iona Smith Allen. Passed away on Monday, January 29, 2018. He was 87 years old.

He graduated from Central High School in Chattanooga TN, class of 1948 and was a long-time employee of General Motors. He was a devote Christian who loved the Lord with all his heart and attended the Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Olinger Allen, his parents, John W. Allen and Amye Iona Smith Allen, son Steve Allen, and by three brothers, Charlie Allen, David Allen and his twin, Robert Allen Sr.

He is survived by two brothers, John Allen (Joyce) of Chickamauga, GA and Jeff Allen (Gail) of Cleveland, TN; 5 children, Dale Allen (Holly) of Oregon, Richard Allen Jr. (Brenda) of Nolensville TN, Patricia Verandes (Mike) of Union City, CA., Chris Allen (Daisy) of Elk Grove, CA., and Jonathan Allen of Tracy, CA; as well as 16 Grandchildren and 24 Great-Grandchildren.

He served in the Navy on the USS Soley and fought in the Korean War 1952 and earned metals for; United Nations Service, Korean Service and National Defense.
