Pio Bernados Custodio entered peacefully into rest in Castro Valley, California on November 3, 2019. He was 82 years old.
Born July 12, 1937 in The Philippines to parents Flaviano Custodio and Carmen Bernados-Custodio, Pio graduated from San Ildefonso College. Following graduation, Pio joined the Philippines Marines and proudly served for over 30 years prior to retirement. Once he moved to the states, he worked as a security officer for Allied Security for over 20 years. Pio loved to entertain and was always singing, playing accordion, guitar, ukulele or organ, telling jokes, or doing magic tricks. He was a loving father, grandfather and friend who will be deeply missed.
Pio is survived by his children Dennis Custodio (Lallaine), Lizzette Reyes (Jerry), and Analyn Custodio; grandchildren Joachim, Nina and Ally; and siblings Fortunato Custodio, Lourdes Ocampo, Divina Inarda, Pilar Rotairo, and Teodolo Custodio. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 55 years, Virginia Custodio.
Visitation for Pio will be held from 1:00 – 8:00 PM on Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at Grissom’s Chapel & Mortuary, 267 E. Lewelling Blvd., San Lorenzo, CA, with a family rosary to begin at 5:30 PM and Vigil at 6:00 PM. Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at St. John’s Catholic Church, 264 E. Lewelling Blvd., San Lorenzo, CA. Pio will be laid to rest at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 26320 Mission Blvd, Hayward, CA 94544.
