Phillip Gene Caspersen

March 17, 1938 – April 26, 2026

Phillip Gene Caspersen was born on March 17, 1938, in Boelus, Nebraska, the third of six sons born to Niels and Frieda Caspersen. Shortly after his birth, following a brief stay in Iowa, the family established a farm near Lisbon, North Dakota.

After graduating from high school, Phillip was recruited by Rohr Aircraft in Chula Vista, California. Following several years there, he drove for Dean Van Lines before being drafted into the Army in 1962. While stationed at Fort Lawton, Washington, he met Carmen Evelyn Carmichael; they were married in 1964, the same year he was honorably discharged.

The young couple relocated to Hayward, California, where they raised their three sons. Phillip’s legacy lives on through his children and their families: Timothy and his wife Gina; Michael and his wife Pamela, along with their children Kaitlyn (Kevin) and Douglas (Chelsi); and Thomas and Kyla, along with their son Maximus. Throughout his career, Phillip worked as a skilled carpenter across the San Francisco Bay Area.

Phillip retired in 2000 and began living his dream, crisscrossing the country in a motor home with Carmen by his side. After 26 years of adventure in retirement, Phillip passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 26, 2026.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Carmen; his three sons and daughters-in-law; and his three cherished grandchildren, Kaitlyn and her husband Kevin, Douglas and his wife Chelsi, and Maximus. He is also survived by his brother, David Caspersen. Phillip was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers: Paul, Darrel, Larry, and Danny.
