Paul Douglas Stringer, also known as “String Bean” passed away into eternal rest on January 17, 2017. He was 76 years old.
Paul is survived by his devoted wife of 51 years Viola Charlotte DeLuca, His 13 children; Viola (Ben) Langston, Elizabeth Stringer (Eric Inhelder), Charlene (Roy) Taylor, Paul (Loree) Stringer, Joseph (AnneMarie) Stringer, Shirley, John, Michael (deceased), Rose (Justin) Layton, Peter, Karen, Marilyn and Mary. His grandchildren; Elizabeth Carter, Joshua Watson, Devon Stringer, Tristan Stringer, Sarah Delgado-Stringer, Logan Layton and Jessica Layton. His sisters; Suzy Fivecoat, Sandy Mahoney and Sheila Murdock.
Paul was born in Salinas, California in 1940 to Alton and Elizabeth (Doane) Stringer (both deceased). Paul was the only son of four children. He graduated from Oakland Technical High School in Oakland, CA. before enlisting into the United States Military. At 21 years old, Paul joined the Navy and would go on to serve the country during the Vietnam War. During his time serving, Paul would earn and receive the Good Conduct Medal, A National Defense Service Medal, and an Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal. All which he was very proud of. After his honorable discharge, he would begin a 30-year long career as a CAD Drafter. In his free time, Paul enjoyed several hobbies, most anything to do with history and genealogy. He loved collecting stamps, mapping and was a BIG San Francisco Giants fan. He created a Family Coat of Arms, and had it published at the American College of Heraldry. The Stringer motto was “Strength in Family.” He was a proud member of the VFW and the Heritage Foundation. Paul was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
A Funeral Service for Mr. Paul Stringer Will be held at the LDS Church, located at 3110 Cropley Ave. San Jose, CA. at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, January 24, 2017, followed immediately by a burial at the Cherokee Memorial Park in Lodi, CA.
