Myrtle “Myrt” Louise Atkins passed away February 15, 2019 at the age of 97. She was born on October 31, 1921 in Enterprise, Kansas to parents Pearl and Emphraim Wall.

Myrtle worked at Hunts Cannery for 24 seasons, after graduating from Oakland Tech. She was the former secretary of the Portuguese Hall in San Leandro. Her family remembers her as selfless and always looking after others, and as a social butterfly who loved people. She also enjoyed playing cards, golfing, and gardening.

Myrtle is survived by her sons John M. Atkins (Nancy) and James D. Atkins (Clare); grandchildren Dawn, Sarah, Kelly and Joseph; great grandchildren Heather, Emma, Alyssa, Ryan, and Nathan; and great great grandson Caleb. She was preceded in death by her husband John Joseph Atkins in 1994, and her brother Donald.

Myrtle will be laid to rest at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Hayward, CA.
