Life Legacy

Mildred Boatman went to be with the Lord on August 25th. She spent her last week at home in the care or her family, care giver Erlinda Rosario, and Hope Hospice.

She started life as Mildred Wheeler, the second youngest of seven, and grew up in West Frankfort, Ill. In 1944 she was married to James Boatman and soon moved to Alameda, Calif. working at the Naval Air Station.

In 1951 she moved into her home in San Lorenzo where she lived the rest of her days. That same year she joined San Lorenzo Baptist Church where she attended, taught Sunday School, and helped in the church office for a number of years until health issues kept her at home.

She worked a few years as a cashier in the Edendale Middle School cafeteria and then at Montgomery Wards in the Bay Fair shopping center. Mildred had some hobbies of her own, especially sewing and baking but mostly her life was dedicated to being a great wife for James, mother for James Dennis and Thomas Lee, and grandmother for Sheree and Nicole. Her life was always about pleasing everyone else.

Mildred was preceeded in death by husband James Arthur in 2004. She is survived by sons James Dennis (Veronica) and Thomas Lee (Dolly), granddaughters Sheree Taylor (Tony) and Nicole Hermosillo (Steve), great granddaughters Lexie, Haylee, and Julianne, and many nieces and nephews.
