Melanie Josephine Mouat passed away suddenly on November 4, 2021. 

A California Native, Melanie traveled frequently with her family; growing up in San Lorenzo, CA, and then as a pre-teen traveling with her family for a year in Chile. Eventually settling in Boca Raton, FL where she attended Omni Middle School and West Boca Community High School. Melanie excelled academically at West Boca High and was a well-beloved member of the West Boca Vanguard Band. She even got to go to London, England one year to march in the New Year's Day Parade, after raising all the costs via fundraising by herself. Melanie played four instruments and sang beautifully.

After graduating from West Boca High, Melanie moved back to California to pursue a bachelor's degree. She was proud to serve the university as a CSO (Community Service Officer), and also attended their International Learning Abroad Program, travelling through Argentina and Chile during her Junior year. Melanie graduated from UCSB in 2020 with two degrees: Sociology and History of Public Policy and Law.

At the time of her passing, Melanie was working as a dispatcher for All-Guard Alarm Systems in Livermore, CA. A job she was glad to have and truly enjoyed.

Beloved by all who knew her, Melanie was the kind of person who lit up a room with her presence. Generous and caring to a fault, she loved and accepted everyone for who they were. Melanie's motto on Facebook said it all: "Love For All, Hatred For None."

Her love of animals was also legendary - having a menagerie of two dogs (Tommy & Teddy), her cat Owen (in Florida), a one 3-legged turtle named Zeus, a hamster named Dean Winchester, and various betta fish at her very tolerant Nana's house.

Melanie's Northern California Memorial Service will be on Monday, November 29, 2021 from 10AM - 12PM at Grissom's Chapel and Mortuary located at 267 E. Lewelling Blvd, San Lorenzo, CA .

Instead of flowers, Melanie's family requests donations be made in her name to any Animal Shelter or Charity of choice.
