Mary K. Ryan entered peacefully into rest in San Leandro on April 26, 2021. She was 66 years old
Born in Oakland Ca. on July 8th, 1954 to John & Clarice Ryan, Mary grew up in San Lorenzo where she attended St. John’s grade school and San Lorenzo High School. She went on to nursing school to become an LVN, and worked at various places before settling in at Children’s Hospital in Oakland, where she worked for several years.Mary was an avid Oakland A’s fan, & also enjoyed the Warriors and Raiders. She was a great cribbage player and participated in many tournaments over the years, often traveling out of town to attend them. One of Mary’s favorite spots to visit with her family was Martins Beach in San Mateo County, near Half Moon Bay. She loved going to the movies, meeting for coffee at Starbucks and going to the Alameda county fair every year around her birthday to play the ponies. Mary started collecting owls many years ago, & had amassed quite a beautiful collection.
About 10 years ago, Mary moved to downtown Oakland into a complex for senior residents. She had made many good friends there. It was right across from the Oakland Museum and she became a very regular visitor and supporter of the Museum and all it had to offer.
Mary was preceded in death by her father, John F. Ryan (2002), her brother John F. Ryan Jr. (2009), and her mother Clarice W. Ryan (2010).
Mary leaves behind 6 siblings, Tom Ryan, Pat Ryan, Dan Ryan, Margaret Ryan Berry, Roseann Ryan Hensley, and Michael Ryan, many nieces & nephews, great nieces & nephews, extended family & lots of good friends.
