Martha A. Serrato entered peacefully into rest in San Leandro on July 22, 2017. She was 83 years old.
Born in Oakland on January 19, 1934, Martha was one of 8 children blessed to Juan and Trinidad Sifuentes. She met the love of her life, Paul Sr., in elementary school and they would eventually marry after graduating McClymonds High School. They shared 60 years together, making their home in San Leandro with their 4 children. Martha enjoyed a 30 year career as a packager for Sunshine Biscuit Company. In her younger years, she enjoyed bowling, earning a treasured trophy. She was an incredible cook who enjoyed gardening and caring for her family. Martha was devoted to her faith and was a longtime volunteer and greeter at St. Felicitas Catholic Church. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and GG who will be deeply missed.
Martha is survived by her husband, Paul Sr., of San Leandro; sons and daughters in law, Paul Jr. & Susan;, Mark A. & Sandi, and Michael J. & Nancy; grandchildren, Jennifer Curry, Victoria Pierce, Katherine Shaw, Kevin Shaw, Christopher Hampson, Daniel Hampson, Matthew Serrato, Joseph Serrato and Nicholas Serrato; siblings, Sally Cardenas, Jesse Johnston, Marie Helm, Roger Sifuentes, Frank, David and Dan Gutierrez; great grandchildren, Evan Munoz, Olivia Pierce, Dylan Pierce and Elizabeth Hampson; many cherished extended family and friends.
Visitation will be 9 am to 11 on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at Grissom’s Chapel & Mortuary, 267 E. Lewelling Blvd., San Lorenzo. Services begin at 11 am. A reception will follow. Burial at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Cancer Research Institute or United Network for Organ Sharing are preferred.
