Mark “Coach” Stahowski was surrounded by family as he entered into rest after a 5 year battle with cancer on Monday, September 12, 2016 at the age of 62.
He is leaves behind his loving and devoted wife, Christine Stahowski, his beloved daughters, Linsey Stahowski and Kellie Reilly, his vivacious grandson, William Reilly, and eldest siblings, Marianne Butziger and Gregg Stahowski. The family takes comfort in knowing that he will be welcomed with open arms by his parents, Milton and Marie Stahowski, brother, Dean Stahowski, and brother-in-law, Bob Butziger.
Mark was a teacher in the Hayward Unified School District and passionate football coach at San Leandro High School. He was also a member of the Yamato Bonsai Club and spent countless hours caring for his over 200 bonsais. After retiring, Mark join a group of men who played bocce ball on Thursday mornings. He will be remembered by all as a kind and gentle man who loved his family beyond measure.
All are welcome to attend and celebrate Mark’s life at 1 pm on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Grissom’s Chapel & Mortuary, 267 E. Lewelling Blvd., San Lorenzo; as well as, the football game that the San Leandro High School Athletic Department is dedicating to “Coach S” on Nov. 4th at Burrell Field. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Mark “Coach” Stahowski Scholarship Fund w/ the San Leandro Scholarship Foundation, P.O. Box 1151, San Leandro, CA 94577.
