Marilyn Ryan Smith entered peacefully into rest in Oakland, California on December 13, 2019. She was 87 years old.

Born December 5, 1932 in St. Louis, Missouri to parents Margaret Clare and John Francis Ryan, Marilyn received her Masters degree from Cal State Hayward. Following graduation, she  worked as an elemetary school teacher for New Haven School District for 35 years. She was a proud member of the St. Gerard's Womens Group and loved travel, art, opera and square dancing.

Marilyn is survived by her son Sean Michael Smith. She was preceded in death by her siblings John Ryan and Lee Elton. 

A Celebration of Marilyn's Life will take place on Friday, December 20, 2019 at Grissom's Chapel & Mortuary, 267 E. Lewelling Blvd., San Lorenzo, California. Visitation will be held from 3:00 - 4:00 PM, with services to begin at 4:00 PM. A reception will be held from 3:00 - 6:00 PM. 

Marilyn will be laid to rest at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Hayward, California.
