Pt. Manik Chand Maharaj,  age 78 of Union City, California passed away on Wednesday 10/18/2023 surrounded by his family and loved ones.

Pt. Manik was born on November 15, 1944 in Suva, Fiji. He lived and worked in Fiji all his young life then moved to the United States with his family in 1984.  Manik was a man of great faith and became a pundit in 1994 serving the Fijian-Indian community.

In 2008, Pt. Manik became a co-owner of Saudagar Cash and Carry. In addition to this work, he continued serving his community as a religious leader.

He is survived by his loving wife, Prakash Wati Chand, his four children, Sanjit, Nilesh, Ritlesh and Ashika Chand, his six grandchildren Alexis, Ethan, Dylan, Ava, Aidan and Rithik, and his youngest brother Krisnha (Bobby) Chand.
