Louis Jens Nielsen, known to family and friends as “Palou,” entered peacefully into rest at the VA Hospital in Palo Alto on March 16, 2021. He was 88 years old. 

Born September 30, 1932 in Panama to parents Louis C.F. Nielsen and Hyacinth M. DePass, Louis served in the US Navy for 4 years. Following his honorable service, he went on to work as a tool & dye machinist for Glass Container for over 32 years. Louis enjoyed membership in the Northern California Veteran’s Boxer’s Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), and Elks Lodge Fremont. He loved boxing, coaching baseball, golfing, swimming, sunbathing, and was an avid horseman and ballroom dancer.

Louis is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Diane Durossette; children Ricky Ray Nielsen, Lori Jo Nielsen and Robert James Nielsen; grandchildren Steven Teixeira, Shauna Nielsen, Kali Teixeira, Jake Nielsen, Nick Nielsen and Rebecca Nielsen; great grandchildren Layla Moy, Braiden Teixeira, Kanoa Moy, Braxton Teixeira, Jace Teixeira, Sadie Teixeira and Wesley Nielsen; sister Sue Agness-Del Acqua; and many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his siblings Inga Nielsen Marker and Robert Agness. Louis will be deeply missed.
