Kristin Joy Smith, beloved daughter, sister, cousin and aunt, age 47, of Martinez, CA passed away on January 29, 2026. She was born in Houston, TX on November 1, 1978, to George B.R, Smith and Brenda L. Smith. She was an excellent student in school and served in Daisies, Brownies and Girl Scouts under the leadership of her mother, who was a scout leader. Kristin loved playing team sports in swimming, soccer, softball and basketball, with her Dad as a coach.

She graduated from Monte Vista High School, Danville, CA in 1997, then attended Diablo Valley College and University of California, Davis, where she earned a B.A degree in Sociology in 2002. Following graduation, she worked for her father at GBR Smith Group as a Project Consultant/Recruiter for many years.

Kristin was a kind, thoughtful and intelligent woman, who deeply loved her family, friends and pets. She also had a wonderful sense of humor, often displayed by a playful smile and laugh. Her humor brought comfort, connection and joy Her loss leaves a deep sadness, but her generosity of spirit, and quick wit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who loved her.

Kristin suffered from a mental illness known as borderline personality disorder, which she fought bravely for many years. Mental illness is often misunderstood, which makes the path of life difficult for those who are afflicted. Kristin was a faithful Christian, so we are consoled that she no longer is in pain and has found perfect healing for eternity in the loving arms of Jesus Christ.

A Celebration of Life service will be held for Kristin at Community Presbyterian Church, Danville, CA on March 7, 2026 at 11 a.m. Family and friends will gather to honor her life, share stories and celebrate Kristin.
