Kevin Michael Joyce

September 25, 1955-August 24, 2017 San Ramon, CA

Born in Oakland, raised in San Lorenzo, Kevin attended St. John’s Elementary School, Bishop O’Dowd H.S., and graduated from San Lorenzo H.S. He was an outstanding athlete, playing Little League baseball as well as pitching for the varsity baseball teams at O’Dowd , San Lorenzo and Chabot College, culminating in a pro-contract with the Montreal Expos. Kevin later played for the Oakland Athletics farm team. He made many friends along the way. Sadly, a heart attack took him too soon.

Kevin worked as a Teamster, Local 70, and most recently, for San Lorenzo USD. He enjoyed playing for the Oldtimers’ baseball team in his free time.

Kevin was proud of his Irish heritage and valued his extended family above all else. Kevin is survived by his beloved son, Michael, his brothers John (Andrea), Patrick (Janie), Tom (Carol); his sisters, Elizabeth Ferris, Bridget Pertzborn (Mike), 10 nieces/nephews and 7 grandnieces/ nephews. Kevin is preceded in death by his father Patrick and mother Nancy.

Memorial service followed by a reception will be held Friday 9/8 11am. St. Isidore Catholic Church, 440 La Gonda Way, Danville, CA 94526.
