Kenneth George Whittaker, “The Greatest Generation,” entered peacefully into rest in Castro Valley, California, on November 21, 2019. He was 94 years old.
Born December 25, 1924 in Marshfield, Oregon to parents Lavell and George Jacob Wittikko, Kenneth was raised in the Upper Peninsula, Michigan. He served in the US Navy for 3 years during WWII, and following his service worked as a Union Butcher for over 33 years. He loved bowling, the Oakland Raiders & Oakland A’s, and his animals. He was an original home owner in San Lorenzo, for over 65 years, and took pride in taking care of his family.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Beatrice “Peppy” Whittaker (2014), son Michael Whittaker (1996), and sister Dorothy Fitzgerald. He is survived by his daughter Karen Slagle, 4 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.
Kenneth will be laid to rest respectfully and with honors at 12:30 PM on Monday, December 16, 2019 at the Northern California Veterans Cemetery in Igo, California.
