Joyce Evon McEwen passed away peacefully on August 22nd, 2017. She was 92 years old.

Joyce Evon Weed was born to Cecelia and Sumner Weed on April 14th 1925 in Hoquiam, Washington. Joyce was very active in school, and very supportive of her brothers sports at Hoquiam High School where she was a majorette with the high school school band. That is where Joyce met and later married her childhood sweetheart, Stanley McEwen, on November 12th 1944, while he was serving in the United States Navy. Together they raised four children; Rick, Steven, Dann, and Cindy. The family moved to Hayward, California in 1962 when Stan was offered a substantial promotion. Joyce had a passion for her family and devoted her entire life as an adoring wife, mother, and grandmother. As a family, they enjoyed time camping, and later settled into a summer home with a houseboat where they spent many years of family fun at Lake Berryessa.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Stan; son, Steven; her mother and father; and her three brothers, John, Sumner, and Carl Weed. She is survived by her son, Rick McEwen (Jackie McEwen); son. Dann McEwen; and daughter, Cindy Telleria. Six grandchildren, Sean McEwen; Shelly Mayer (Aaron Mayer); Stayce Baptista (Jeff Baptista); Kayla Telleria; Crystal Belman (Damon Belman); and Tami Svenson (Derek Svenson). Eleven great grandchildren; Andrew McEwen; Joshua McEwen (Allie McEwen); Gunner Mayer; Alyssa Mayer; Keira Baptista; Gabriel Belman (Jacqueline Belman); Hailey Belman; Mariah Belman; Raven Svenson; Willow Svenson; Drake Svenson; numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends, and all of whom she adored.

The family is grateful to Kaiser Hospice, to all of her devoted caregivers, nurses and aides at Windsor Post Acute Care Center, and the staff at Grissom's Chapel and Mortuary.

Joyce will be laid to rest at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Hayward, California. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
