On Saturday, October 05, 2019, Joshua Onk, known by his family and friends as Pong, departed us to be in his heavenly home after his valiant battle with cancer. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace.
Joshua was born on December 07, 1964, in Battambang, Cambodia, to Onk & Siam. He was the middle of three children with an older brother and a younger sister.
Joshua was separated from his family during the reign of the Khmer Rouge. He arrived to the United States in 1982 as a traveled refugee, living in Portland, Oregon. In 1990, he was reunited with his older brother Seth in Oakland, California.
He worked as an arborist for the City of Oakland for many years, but had an immense passion for photography and sports.
He will be remembered for his booming voice, contagious laugh, duty to his church, and loving, caring, and playful nature.
Joshua is survived by his wife Linda, his three children Sovanny, Benjamin, Naomi and his older brother Seth. He is preceded in death by his parents and younger sister.
Visitation for Joshua will be held from 11:00 AM - 11:30 AM on Saturday, October 19, 2019, with services to begin at 11:30, and a Cremation Ceremony to take place at 1:30 PM at Grissom's Chapel & Mortuary, 267 E. Lewelling Blvd., San Lorenzo, California
