John Taylor Newport Jr. passed away on April 17, 2019 in Brentwood, California. He was 75 years old. 

Born on June 18, 1943 in Oklahoma to parents Ruth and John Newport, John worked as a Lineman at AT&T for over 30 years. Prior to his work at AT&T, John served in the US Air Force. He graduated from Arroyo High School and also held a Bachelor’s degree. John was a member of the American Bulldog Association and loved his dogs. He also enjoyed reading.

John is survived by his children Laura Basurto and Keith Newport; grandchildren Brian Newport, Mary Basurto, Breanne Basurto, and Eric Newport; great grandchildren Viviana Maldonado, Avanni Maldonado, Haley Newport, Brian Newport Jr., Isaiah Boyes, and Gavin Newport; and brother Jim Newport. He will be greatly missed.

John will be laid to rest respectfully and with honors at 2:30 PM on Monday, May 6, 2019, at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, CA.
