John “Jack” Wellington Lampe entered peacefully into rest in Castro Valley on January 16, 2017. He was 92 years old.
Born to Irving & Ruth (Painter) Lampe on June 8, 1924 in River Rouge, Michigan, Jack was a graduate of St. Mary’s of Redford High School and Electronics Institute of Michigan. He had proudly served his country during WWII, serving in Guam with the Army Air Corps. Jack had a successful career as an electronic engineer, spanning 46 years. He enjoyed World War II planes, attending events with Sociables of San Lorenzo, building and playing organs, aviation, smoking his pipe, astronomy, computers, big band music and banjo night at Porky’s. Jack was treasured by all who knew him and will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his devoted children, Robin Lampe Hart-Mize, John Edward Lampe and Mark William Lampe; grandchildren, Kim Reynolds Lesly Mohr, Demae Rubins, Tamara Tillotson, John Tillotson, Adam Tillotson, Jen Karthik, Aaron Thrasher and Rosa Lampe; great grandchildren, Chloe Ilone Brooks, Brianne Mohr, Elaine Mohr, Jace Tillotson, Joss Tillotson, Kace Reynolds and Taryn Rubins; a loving extended family and cherished friends.
Jack was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 46 years, Ilone Penner Lampe.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a celebration of Jack’s life at 11 am on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at Grissom’s Chapel & Mortuary, 267 E. Lewelling Blvd., San Lorenzo. Interment will be private.
