Jimmy Sik Hung Tam was born in Hong Kong in 1931 and passed peacefully in the family home on March 5, 2021.
Jimmy was 1 of 13 kids to father Lap Chiu Tam and mother Chow Lai Yong. Jimmy was the father figure in the family, and was the first to come to the US, where he married his first wife Lillian Tam. They had two sons, Michael and Terry, and two grandsons Jordan and Ryan from Terry and daughter-in-law Agnes.
He helped most of his siblings come to the US including his surviving siblings Arthur, Allan, Andes, Sarah, Ava and Annie who passed several years ago.
Jimmy received his BS in Chemistry in Canada, and worked for more than 10 years as a lab tech for Mt. Zion Hospital in San Francisco.
He was a true entrepreneur and opened up his first retail store in the 1960’s, while working full time, which he later passed to his siblings. He ultimately opened up a chain of 4 retail stores in SF Chinatown and North Beach before retiring as a Realtor and landlord in San Francisco.
He loved to play tennis, majong, eating dim sum, and sitting for hours in the sun.
Jimmy Tam – Lab Technician, Entrepreneur, Realtor and Landlord, but most importantly he was a husband, a father, a grandfather, a brother and an uncle to us all and we will always remember him as someone who played a role in our lives.
