Jerome (Jay) David Miranda entered peacefully into rest in Hayward, California, on October 29, 2019. He was 95 years old.
Born July 31, 1924 in Hayward, California to parents Mary and Joseph Miranda, Jerome graduated with his Associate of Arts degree from the College of San Mateo. Following graduation, he worked as an aviation planner estimator at the Naval Air Station in Alameda, CA for over 30 years. Jerome was also a proud veteran of WWII, serving in the Army Air Corps from 1942-1945. He was a private pilot, and paratrooper.
Jerome was a true handyman – he could often be found tinkering away on cars, planes, or at home. He was a man of many hobbies, and in his spare time he enjoyed coin collecting, travel, and roller skate dancing. He was an accredited ballroom dancer.
Jerome is survived by his wife of 62 years, Stella Miranda; children Mary Peretti (Michael) and Michelle Miranda; grandchildren Bryan Peretti, Shaun Peretti, Courtney Metz and Tyler Peretti; and great grandson Connor Metz.
There will be a celebration of Jerome's life at 1:00 PM on Friday, November 8, 2019 at Grissom's Chapel & Mortuary, 267 E. Lewelling Blvd., San Lorenzo, CA. He will be laid to rest respectfully and with honors at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery.
