James R. Sperry, known to family and friends as Jimmy or Jimbo, passed away November 1, 2018 at the age of 53 in San Ramon, CA. He was born January 30, 1965 in the Letterman Genearal Hospital Presidio of San Francisco, CA.
James worked as an IT Specialist for Chevron and Apple after retiring from 21 years of service in the US Navy and studying Information Technology at Heald College. He was awarded the following Decorations, Medals, Badges, Citations and Campaign Ribbons; Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (5), Meritorious Unit Commendation (2), Navy “E” Ribbon (3), Navy and Marine Good Conduct Medalm (3), National Defense Service Medal (2), Southwest Asia Service Medal with Bronze Star, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (5), Naval Reserve Sea Service Ribbon, Expert Rifleman Medal and Expert Pistol Shot Medal, He loved playing games online, watching movies, reading, playing pinball machines and dining out.
James is survived by his wife of 17 years, Joyce Sperry; children Suzzanne, Robert, Samantha, Russell, Ryan, Joseph, Sabrina and Kathrynne; grandchildren Sylvia, Kylee, Melanie, Maverick, Evelyn, Kinsleigh and Jedadiah; parents Douglas and Josie; sister Joni Graves; and niece Amanda Fonua.
Services for James will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at New Life Church, 6444 Sierra Ct, Dublin, CA.
