Jim Faggiano

January 7, 1934 - April 11, 2026

Life Legacy

Jim Faggiano, a longtime resident of Pleasanton, California, passed away at 92, leaving behind a legacy of dedication, service, and deep connection to his community. He made Pleasanton his home in 1968 and remained a proud and active member of the community for decades.

As a child, Jim endured extraordinary hardship that would shape the strength and resilience he carried throughout his life. From the ages of 8 to 11, he was held in a Japanese prisoner-of-war camp in the Philippines , along with his parents and sister, during World War II. Despite the profound challenges of those years, he emerged with a remarkable spirit, perseverance, and appreciation for life that stayed with him and inspired those who knew his story.

In his youth, Jim demonstrated early leadership and character. He served as student body president at Marin Catholic High School, a reflection of the respect and confidence his peers placed in him. As a young adult, he joined the United States Air Force and was stationed on Johnson Island in the South Pacific. Later he was trained and served as an air traffic controller.

Jim was a devoted father to his four children—Steve, Rob, Ken, and Sharon—all of whom survive him. He deeply cherished Steve’s wife, his daughter-in-law Kathy, who spent so much time with him, and satisfied his ice cream cravings over the years. He was also a proud grandfather to Brian, Kevin, Jennifer, Bailey, Heather, and Connor, and a great-grandfather to Lottie and James. His family was at the center of his life, and he took immense pride in each of their accomplishments and milestones.

Professionally, Jim spent 25 years as a Loss Prevention Supervisor with Fireman’s Fund Insurance, where he earned respect for his expertise and commitment. Beyond his career, he was widely known for his passion and skill in training police K9 units and protection dogs—a pursuit he dedicated nearly 50 years to. His work in this field left a lasting impact on law enforcement and dog training communities alike.

Jim was known for his outgoing nature, warm personality, and ability to connect with people from all walks of life, and above all his sharp-witted sense of humor. He remained active, engaged, and full of life until his final days, embodying a spirit that inspired those around him, especially those who survive him and will carry on their lives emulating the way he lived.

He will be remembered not only for his professional accomplishments but for his kindness, energy, and the many lives he touched. Jim’s presence will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the community he loved so much.

Thank you, Dad. Please check in once in a while.
