Hugh Douglas "Doug" Hines entered peacefully into rest at home in Castro Valley, California on December 18, 2021. He was 90 years old.

Born July 13, 1931 in California to parents Vearle and Johnny Hines, Doug graduated from Santa Clara High School and attended San Jose State University. He went on to work for Bank of America for 44 years. Doug loved bowling, the 49s and Warriors, and tending his large yard and garden, especially his roses – the “Eden” variety was a special favorite. He also loved Hawaii, and in 1997 started the tradition of visiting every year with his wife Patricia. He was the best husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather ever.

Doug is survived by his beloved wife of 71 years, Patricia Jean Hines; children Sue, Sherie, Stacey and Carol; grandchildren Gene, Chrissy, Justin, Rebecca, Samantha, Christine, Amy, Vincent, Natisa, Rickey, Ryan and Alex; great grandchildren Maddison, Katie, Jax, Alexa, Hunter, Gabriel, Matthew, Lily, Abella, Zayda, Phinalley, Ariana, Leo, Emma, Clara, Grey, Isla and Ryker; siblings Donna Lee and Donald Hines; and many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter Cyndie and granddaughter Teresa. Doug will be deeply missed.

Visitation for Doug will be held from 1-3 PM on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at Grissom’s Mortuary, 267 E. Lewelling Blvd., San Lorenzo, CA. Services will begin at 3PM.  Hawaiian, 49ers and Warriors attire is welcome.

Doug will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Memorial Park in San Jose, California.
