Helen Teixeira Patrinos (known to family and friends as Mrs. P, Puna, and Auntie Awa) entered peacefully into rest at home in San Leandro, California, on July 27, 2019. She was 97 years old.
Born August 16, 1921 in Honolulu, Hawaii to parents Annie Ke-a and Antone Teixeira, Helen worked as a homemaker for over 65 years. She was a member of the Hui Kama'aina Club of the East Bay and the Catholic Daughters, and she loved knitting, crocheting, hula dancing, and going to the casinos to gamble. The most important thing to her always was her Ohana. She always said “be good to one another.”
Helen is survived by her children Stephen (Kathleen) and Georgina (Randy); grandchildren Athena (Ryan), Lauren (Kaleo), Katelyn (Nami), and Alexander (Alika); and great grandchildren Serenity and Dustin. She was preceded in death by her husband E. George Patrinos; daughter Christine; and siblings Albert, Laura, Minnie, Richard, Stephen, Annie, Elizabeth and Robert.
Visitation for Helen will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 PM on Tuesday, August 6, 2019, at Grissom's Chapel & Mortuary, 267 E. Lewelling Blvd., San Lorenzo, CA, with a Vigil to be held at 7:00 PM. Mass will be at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, August 7, 2019, at St. Felicitas Catholic Church, 1662 Manor Blvd, San Leandro, CA 94579. Helen will be laid to rest with her late husband at the Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery in Kaneohe, Hawaii.
