Our beloved Helen Mae Quintal was embraced by the angels as she passed away peacefully at her home with her family on July 7, 2021, after 90 beautiful years. She is survived by her sister Marylou; children Reginald, Anthony, Donna, Patrick, Jaimie and Ralph, grandchildren Joshua, Damien, Tabitha, JJ, David, Denise, Adam, Daniel, Sara, Sonia and Mavis; great grandchildren Kaden, Taya, Talia, Patrick, Cody, Deacon, Rogan, Keenan, Jada, Bailey, Chaz, Quinten, Charlee, Jane, Mason, Isabella, David, Leilana, Kaleb, Chloe, Colton, James, Roman and Emmet; and many other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 52 years, Alfred; and siblings Albert, Linda, Janet, Thelma and Sonny.

A true selfless woman of God, family and community, Helen’s indomitable spirit encouraged her family and friends to persist in the face of many struggles. She was born Helen Mae Morgado in Hilo, Hawaii on April 15, 1931 to parents Ralph and Mary Morgado, where she met the love of her life, Alfred Quintal, from Kohala. They relocated to the mainland for work opportunities, and settled in Hayward, CA in the 1960’s. They moved to their forever home in San Lorenzo in 1974. A full, but happy plate indeed.

Helen was a devoted member of St. John’s Church and became a eucharist minister, and was also a valued member of St. Girard’s Women’s Club and choir, singing beautiful songs of worship. Helen was happiest tending to her orchids, playing bingo, bowling, but most of all, planning family gatherings where everyone was welcomed and truly loved. We are all dearly blessed to have her love and her spirit will live on eternally.

Visitation for Helen will be held from 3:00 – 6:00 PM on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at Grissom’s Chapel & Mortuary, 267 E. Lewelling Blvd., San Lorenzo, CA, with a Vigil to begin at 6:30.

Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, July 21 at St. John’s Catholic Church, 264 E. Lewelling Blvd., San Lorenzo, CA. Burial will follow at 12:15 PM at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 26320 Mission Blvd, Hayward, CA.

A celebration of life and reception will be held from 2:00 – 6:00 PM also on Wednesday, July 21, at the Hilton Garden Inn, 510 Lewelling Blvd, San Leandro, CA.
