Gloria Mary Boykin entered peacefully into rest in Hayward, California on May 13, 2021. She was 81 years old.

She was born March 22, 1940 in Oakland CA, to Carmen & Jose Navarro. Gloria grew up in Oakland where she attended Tompkins Elementary, Laurel Middle and McClymonds High School.

Gloria worked as a daycare provider for over 25 years. She enjoyed playing Pokeno, gambling, scratching her lottery tickets, camping, and road trips in the family motor home to visit family in Mississippi. Gloria’s favorite thing to do was get together with her family and make tamales. Gloria enjoyed nothing more than watching her family come together and grow. She was very proud of the family she raised and all their accomplishments. Gloria had a heart of gold, she never judged, always willing to help anyone and had an open door to her home. She will be greatly missed.

Gloria was preceded in death by her youngest daughter, Rebecca Lynn Boykin (April 5, 2002), and her eldest daughter, Debra Joan Ramirez (April 23, 2021).

Gloria is survived by her husband of 58 years BJ Boykin, her 3 children John Ramirez, Cheri Smith and Barry Boykin.

Her grandchildren Matthew and Michael Atwater, Shaun Smith, Sarah and Anthony Ramirez, Cherise and Natisha Morris, Kaleigh and Kenna Boykin

Her great grandchildren Mia Ramirez, Rebecca and Jeremiah Atwater, & Josiah Peraza-Flores.

Her siblings, Jose and Maria Navarro, Barbara Halican.

As well as many nieces & nephews, great nieces & nephews, other extended family & lots of good friends.

Services for Gloria will be held on May 26, 2021 at Grissom’s Chapel and Mortuary 267 E. Lewelling Blvd., San Lorenzo, CA. The viewing will be held from 10:00 – 10:30 AM and a Celebration of Life from 10:30 – 12:00 PM.  Burial will follow at Chapel of the Chimes Hayward, 32992 Mission Blvd, Hayward, CA 94544.
