Gino J. Pacini

November 20, 1928 - May 31, 2021

Life Legacy

Gino Pacini passed away on May 31st (Memorial Day), 2021. He suffered a massive stroke at Eden Hospital in Castro Valley. At the age of 92 years.

He was born on November 20, 1928 to Gemma & Bartolomeo Pacini on Nov. 20, 1928 in Reno, Nevada. He was the last of 8 children, who are all deceased. He had a nickname of “Gino from Reno.” The family moved from Reno to Oakland in 1936. He graduated from Oakland Technical High School in 1946.

He joined the National Guard after graduation and was activated on 10/1/1950. He became a tech sergeant with the Army Engineers Aviation Battalion #1905, during the Korean War. He served 3 years and returned home. He went on to serve with the Oakland Fire Department as an engineer for 32 years. He retired in 1988. He loved working as a fireman. His brother, Al, also worked in the fire department and years later Gino’s nephew joined them. Gino loved to cook and would bring home recipes from the fire house & improve on them.

Gino met & married Mary (Wolfe) on July 14, 1956. They were married 64 years and 10 months. They had 2 children, Steven &  Ann Marie. Ann Marie was killed on their 29th wedding anniversary (7/14/1985). Their hearts were broken. Gino was a member of the “Colombo Club” & Mary & he loved to go there for dinners and dancing.

Our dear son, Steven, met & married Louise on 9/13/1989. They had 2 children, Lauren & Blair. Steven was an accountant for many years & is now retired. Louise worked in Silicon Valley and is retired too.

Gino & Mary did “Reno bus trips” for 12 years, for the members of their parish club. Twice a year they went to Reno. They lived 62 years in San Leandro & enjoyed their lives there, as well as membership at St. Felicitas Church, San Leandro, where he did volunteer work. They traveled to Italy, France, England, Ireland, Canada & Hawaii. We enjoyed our retirement, thank God. Gino will be dearly missed by his loving wife, family & friends.

“Gone but never forgotten.”

Visitation at 11 AM will be followed by Mass of Christian Burial at noon on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at St. Felicitas Catholic Church, 1662 Manor Blvd, San Leandro, CA 94579. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 26320 Mission Blvd, Hayward, CA 94544.

“Forever in our hearts! Until we meet in heaven.”
