Luigia “Gina” D’Ambrosio

December 28, 1940 - August 26, 2024

Life Legacy

Luigia "Gina" D'Ambrosio, aged 83, of Dublin, California, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. Born on December 28, 1940, in Forchia, Italy, and one of nine children to her adoring parents Michele and Clementina D'Onofrio, Gina was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who touched the lives of everyone she met with her warmth, generosity, and indomitable spirit.

Gina grew up in Forchia, where she learned the values of hard work, family, and faith at a very young age. These values carried her through her life’s journey, from her early days in Italy to her later years in the United States. Gina was known for her incredible culinary skills, ensuring that anyone who entered her home left with a full belly and heart. Food was one of her many love languages.

After immigrating to the United States, Gina settled in the Bay Area of California, where she led her family to become wildly successful in the riches of perseverance and loyalty. Her door was always open, her table was always set, and her heart was always full of love for those around her. Gina's life was a testament to the power of resilience, kindness, and love.

Her loving children survive Gina: Anna Felicita and her husband Aldo, Clementina and her husband Joseph, Domenico and his wife Michele, and Michael and his wife Linda. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Alec, Kiersten, Sabrina, Arianna, Ryan, Matteo, Brian, Gabriella, Luca, and Nico, and a great-grandmother to Maci. Gina was a dear friend to many who will forever hold close to the memories they made with her. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Luigi "Gino" D'Ambrosio, whom she cherished dearly. They were a true romance story in every definition of the phrase.

A service to honor and celebrate Gina’s life will be held on September 5th, 2024, which coincides with Mother Teresa's Day, for whom Gina had the utmost admiration at St. Joan of Arc in San Ramon, CA. In place of flowers, the family requests donations to St Jude Children, an organization close to Gina’s heart.

Her family finds comfort in knowing that Gina is now at peace, reunited with her beloved Gino, and watching over them from above.

Family and friends are invited to gather for the Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at noon on Thursday, September 5, 2024 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 2601 San Ramon Valley Blvd., San Ramon.  Gina will be laid to rest following the mass at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 26320 Mission Blvd., Hayward,

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer memorial donations to be made in Gina's memory to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
