America lost another of her heroes this past Monday morning. Senior Chief Construction Mechanic, Seabee Combat Warfare Specialist, Jerry Lee Cassel Sr, USN ret.
Senior Chief was issued new orders and reported to the Supreme Commander in the Post Everlasting at 0600 hours, 23 JAN 2017. He was 63.
A U.S. Navy Veteran of the Persian Gulf War, Jerry was the recipient of the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, the Air Force Achievement Medal, Navy Good Conduct Medal, Navy Reserve Meritorious Service Medal, National Defense Medal, Sea Service Deployment ribbon, Navy and Marine Corps Overseas Service Ribbon, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Expert Rifle and Expect Pistol medals, plus many other awards.
He served in the United States Navy for more than 23 years - His last assignment as Command Senior Chief, Navy Cargo Handling Battalion 14, Port Hueneme, CA.
In addition to his Navy duties, Jerry was employed by CALTRANS at various locations throughout California. He retired from CALTRANS as Superintendant 3, shop 4, San Leandro.
Jerry was an active member of American Legion Memorial Post 117, San Leandro, Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post 819, San Leandro, and 40/8 Voiture 257, San Leandro.
He leaves behind his loving wife Lanie, his Daughters Jennifer, Carrie, and Kimberly, his Son Jerry Junior, his Mother Louise, his Sister Carol, His Brother Glenn, eight Grandchildren: ETN3 Nicholas Crowley, USN, Riley, Abby, Leah, Ally, Sadie, Colt, and Charlee Ann, plus many Nieces and Nephews.

Final goodbye service: Grissom’s Chapel Tuesday 31 JAN at 1030 hours. Military Honors will be rendered.
