George Trueitt Reppond was born August 5, 1920 in Nagodoches, Texas. He was his parents’ first born. Later, a brother and three sisters would follow. He was born in a time of kerosene lamps and horse powered transportation. When George was only nine years of age his father died, and he dropped out of school to help his mother provide for the family. They lived at various rented farmlands. This was a life of long days and hard work.

At the outbreak of World War II, George enlisted in the US Army. He was stationed at the Presidio in San Francisco. While on the West Coast, he met and eventually married the love of his life, Genevieve Faria. Together they raised three children: Patricia (from a previous marriage of Genevieve), George (Maynard) and Leonard. George and Genevieve both worked to provide for the family. George was clever with his hands and repaired cars. Eventually, he worked for Alameda County in the car maintenance department. Later in life, after all their children were grown, George and Genevieve built and moved to a new house in Sonora, California. Throughout his life George enjoyed gardening. His years in Sonora gave him the opportunity to do just that and to enjoy a quiet and relaxed lifestyle. After Genevieve's passing, George never quite recovered from his loss. It was a love affair that had lasted over seventy years.

George is survived by his three children, scores of grand, great, and great-great grandchildren. He will be missed by all.
