George Johnson III,  affectionately known as “Doob,” was born on May 27th, 1957 in Newport, Rhode Island. George was the eldest of four siblings, born to Gertrude Butler and George Johnson, Jr. An avid athlete, he played varsity football and track as a 1975 graduate of Middletown High School. 

Eventually, George would relocate to San Francisco, California to work and found a career as an Ironworker.

George met the love of his life, Diana Cooksey, at a party and their marriage  would span over 39 years. On February 5th, 1983 George and Diana married and welcomed to this joyous union his pride and joy - two beautiful daughters, Tyne Jessica and Tationna Faith. 

After suffering a back injury, George switched careers - graduating in 1997 with his Associate Science degree from  Master’s Institute and working for various technology companies within the Bay Area as a Test engineer. A hardworking and sociable individual, during his 12 years at Adaptec George cultivated lifelong friendships that would be instrumental to his professional and personal development. This group remained in touch, and George sometimes attended  their "catch-up" lunches. 

A naturally curious tinkerer, George enjoyed fixing cars and tech equipment. George even picked up riding motorcycles and fishing as hobbies. His favorite pastimes were spending time with his family, friends, and of course, the family dog Papi.

Hosts of people remember George for his kindness, hard work, dedication to his family, and sense of humor. His daughters will remember him as a consistent, loving, and empathic father - a true "Girl Dad."

George is survived by his wife Diana Johnson, and his daughters Tyne and Tationna Johnson; his mother Gertrude Johnson, his brothers Nathaniel, Micheal, and Christopher Johnson.  He joins his father George Johnson, Jr. in eternal rest.
