Genoveva Bernados Amonoy was born in Tanay, Rizal, in the Philippines on July 17, 1937 to her parents, Teodulo and Prisca Bernados.

She was baptized, confirmed, and later married at San Ildefonso Church in Tanay, Rizal.

When Genoveva was only 14, her mother died, so she was given the task of taking care of her 5 younger sisters, she had to stop her schooling and became the instant mother of her siblings. She helped her stepmother, Primitiva Bandoma Bernados, sell meat in the public market until she had a store of her own.

Jose Amonoy met her when she was 21, and immediately proposed. They were married in 1959, and produced 8 children, namely in order of birth, Lucia, Josephine, Rosalia, Elizabeth, Jesus, Atanacia, Catherine and Prisca.

She departed this life on February 12, 2026 and was preceded in death by her husband, Jose, her brothers, Diego and Teodulo, Jr, and her sisters, Marinena, Clarita, Nicetas and Maria Clara.

Left to mourn her passing are her eight children, 23 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, two sisters, six brothers, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Friends are invited to attend the visitation on Wednesday, March 4 beginning at 4:00p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Grissom's Chapel and Mortuary 267 E. Lewelling Blvd. San Lorenzo. The Rosary will begin at 5:30p.m. Funeral Liturgy will begin at 10:00a.m. at St. Leanders Catholic Church 550 W. Estudillo Ave. San Leandro. Burial will follow to St. Mary's Cemetery 4529 Howe St, Oakland, CA 94611.
