Fred "Frederick Dennis" Lunday, 69, passed away on June 4, 2024, in Belmont, CA. He was a sweet and kind person who lived according to his faith and left us too early.
Fred's life was marked by his service to his country and his dedication to his work. He served with pride in the US Air Force from 1973 to 1978 and then dedicated 37 years to being an American Airlines mechanic.
Outside of his professional life, Fred was a man of many interests. He was an avid fly fisherman and pilot, holding an A&P Mechanic Certificate. He graduated from Saratoga High School and was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Fred will be deeply missed by his surviving siblings, Betty Ann Benesi, Andrew Lunday, and Barbara Tharp. He was a loving uncle to his many nieces and nephews and was particularly delighted by the recent arrival of a grandniece. He was preceded in death by his Father, George P. Lunday, his mother, Ruth Lunday, and his siblings, George S. Lunday and Aileen Bryson.
A service to celebrate Fred's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 15, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 3900 Seven Hills Rd, Castro Valley, CA 94546. Instead of flowers, the family requests donations to Cast Hope in Fred’s memory (www.casthope.org/donate). Contributions to Cast Hope will positively impact children's lives by introducing them to the joy of fly fishing in the outdoors, a passion Fred held dear.
