Fred C. Diaz 74 of Union City, CA passed away on October 14, 2022 peacefully in his sleep. 

Fred was born March 27, 1948 in Wasco, California to Virginia and Antonio Diaz as the 10th of 12 children. He attended school in the Wasco, CA graduating from Wasco Union High school in 1967 where his was a varsity letterman in Track & Field. 

In 1971 Fred met the love of his life Mary Alejandres in Union City, CA. Fred and Mary were married in 1972 raised 3 beautiful children Priscilla, Freddy and Andrea. 

Fred worked as Laborer for 34 years for Local 304 holding numerous construction positions from laborer to supervisor and finished with his first retirement. Then worked for the City of Hayward for 5 years before retiring for the final time. 

Fred enjoyed showing his Camaro and attending car shows, vacationing with Mary, gardening his tomato plants and orange tree, caring for his many dogs with his final dog being “Buddy”. His favorite thing of all was spending time with his grandchildren in all their activities from Football, Softball and Baseball. 

Fred is proceeded in death by Freddy Diaz (Son), Keoki Diaz (Grandson), Robert “Tito B” Benavidez (Son-in-Law), Brothers – Pete, Chuck, Ralph and William, Sisters – Angie, Francis, Georgia and Carmen 

Fred is survived by his wife Mary A. Diaz and his two daughter’s Priscilla Hackett and Andrea Benavidez, son -in-law Thomas E. Hackett Jr. Grandchildren Leila Hackett, Robert Benavidez, III, Thomas Hackett III and Angelo Benavidez. He leaves behind 3 sister’s Virginia Soto of Patterson, CA, Evelyn Leal of Bakersfield, CA, Linda Maldonado of Bakersfield, CA and his beloved dog “Buddy”. 

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at 5-8 PM with the Vigil at 6PM -
