Frances “Fran” Ubrick entered peacefully into rest in San Leandro on Sunday, February 8, 2026, with her family by her side.  She was 73 years old.

Born in Oakland on June 29, 1952, Fran was a lifelong resident of Alameda County.  She graduated from Fremont High School in 1970 and married the love of her life, Rick, on July 23, 1977.  They would make their home in Castro Valley, raising 4 children and welcoming others with open arms.  She enjoyed dancing hula, crafting and shopping for the perfect treasures.  Fran was especially proud of her volunteering, sharing countless hours with the veterans at the VA hospital in Livermore.   Fran was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend.  She will be deeply missed.

Fran is survived by her beloved husband of 48 years, Richard Ubrick; children and their spouses, Carey & Matt Rufino, Renee & Chad Wheeler, Raymond & Joan Amaral and Kellie & Jaime Sanchez; grandchildren, Dylan (Alexis), Kylie (Tommy), Chad W., Branden, Ryan, Joshua, Ashley, Evan, Payton, Alyssa, Isla, Eliana and Jacob; great grandchildren, Jaxton, Levi and Savannah; many cherished extended family and beloved friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Stephen and Carey Layton.

Family and friends are invited to gather for funeral services at 11:30 am on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, in the Williams Chapel at Redwood Chapel Community Church.  Fran will be laid to rest following the ceremony at Lone Tree Cemetery.  Repast will be at Hill and Valley Club, 1808 B St., Hayward.
