Flossie Velma Ruth Patterson was born December 27, 1927 in Marshall, TX to Elizabeth and Joe Patterson who preceded her in death. She was an only child.

Sister Guice accepted Christ at an early age in Texas. In California she was a member of Beebe Memorial and eventually joined the Church of All Faiths where she was active in the choir as well as other areas within the church.

While in Texas, Flossie attended Wiley College in Marshall, TX where she received a BA on June 7, 1949. In California she attended Pepperdine University receiving a Master’s Degree in Education on August 5, 1978.

In 1955, Sister Flossie married Tate Guice Sr. and to that union one child was born. Flossie taught in the Oakland Public Schools for over 20 years.

Sister Guice departed this life on July 8, 2020 at Alta Bates Summit Hospital in Oakland.

She leaves to cherish her memory, one son Eric and his wife Pamela along with daughter Erica Ruth, Simon Robinson and Lee Andrew Robinson; Tate Guice, Jr. and his wife Denise; Louise Brown; Evelyn Guice and Tammie, along with friends, relatives and the entire church family.

This phenomenal woman leaves a legacy that all of us should try to emulate.
