Florante D. Cruz entered peacefully into rest at home in San Leandro, California on June 5, 2023. He was 84 years old.

Born March 12, 1939 in Valenzuela, Philippines to parents Felicitas and Felino Cruz, Florante graduated from the University of the East, Philippines. He went on to work for San Miguel Corp. for 21 years, also in the Philippines, and finished his career as a machinist for Rylock Co. in California. Known to family and friends as Tatay Ponteng, Florante loved to eat, cook, farm and play darts.

Florante is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Juanita Cruz; children May Bush, Jessie Cruz, Liwayway Cruz, Florante Jr. Cruz, Amihan Barroga and Lulu Reloza; grandchildren Jeff, Anne, Juniro, Eric, Noureen, Michael, Benzon, Vince, Jillian, Leiann and Lauren; great grandchildren Morgan and Andrei; siblings Gloria, Virgilio, Norma and Abraham; and many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Felino and Felicitas Cruz; and siblings Salvador, Virginia, Corazon and Rebecca. Florante will be greatly missed.
