Emily Alice Souza passed away peacefully in San Ramon, CA on December 14, 2018.  She was 87 years old.

Born in Oakland, CA on July 10, 1931, Emily was one of three children blessed to Daniel & Herminia Oliveira.  She attended St. Anthony’s prior to graduating from Holy Names High School.  Emily married the love of her life, Richard, in 1958. Together they would share 50 years and raise 5 children prior to his passing in 2009. Emily was a dedicated homemaker and mother who took great pride in her family and their accomplishments.  She tirelessly devoted her time and talents to volunteering at her children’s schools and the churches she attended, St. Alphonsus and St. John's.  Emily took beautiful care of her husband and lovingly shared care of her mother and brother, Joseph, with her sister, Mary in their later years.  She was treasured by all who knew her and will be deeply missed.

Emily is survived by her children and their spouses, Richard & Cindy Souza, Elizabeth & Lewis Correia, Maureen & Joe Block, Nancy & Gordon Reed and Emily & R. Joseph Babcock; grandchildren, John Souza, Scott (Sara) Souza, Tim (Shannon) Correia, Elizabeth Correia, Daniel Correia, Lani (Nick) Correia, Matthew Block, Ashley (Nick) Crain, Matt (Christine) Montana, Gordon Reed, Charlie Reed, Julia Babcock, Madelyn Babcock and Josephine Babcock; great grandchildren, Grace, Brandon, Isaiah, Greyson, Levi and Lucas; as well as many loving extended family and cherished friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, her parents and her sister, Mary and brother, Joseph.

Visitation for Emily will be 4 pm to 8 pm on Thursday, December 20th at Grissom’s Chapel & Mortuary, 267 E. Lewelling Blvd. San Lorenzo.  The vigil service begins at 6:30 pm.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Friday, December 21st at St. John’s Catholic Church, 264 E. Lewelling Blvd.  Emily will be laid to rest at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

Donations to St. Anthony’s Dining Room or Oakland’s Children Hospital are preferred.
