Doris Veronica Young was born on October 25, 1941 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Joseph and Ceola Young. She passed away in Hayward, California, on April 20, 2018 at the age of 76.

She is survived by her daughter, Nye-ema Samaki Sobu and her loving partner Ricky Baker Sr.; grandchildren Janeema Danielle Page, Ricky Baker Jr., D’Amario, Rickeya, Nyha, Brian and Darrien Baker; greatgrandchild Deante Page. She was predeceased by her brother Joseph Young in 1975.

Doris enjoyed sewing, fashion (she made her own clothes), concerts, gardening, and flowers. 

A Visitation will be held on Friday, May 4, 2018 at Grissom’s Chapel & Mortuary, 267 E. Lewelling Blvd., San Lorenzo, California, from 9:00 A.M. – 11:00 A.M. There will be a Celebration of Doris' Life at 11:00 A.M. following the Visitation. Her final resting place will be Rolling Hills Memorial Park in Richmond, California.
